Кукла с миллионами
1928 · 69 min · SU
Directed by Sergei Komarov
Two Paris cousins learn that a rich aunt has left everything to a niece lost in Moscow, identifiable by a birthmark and a doll with the papers sewn inside, and go looking. Igor Ilyinsky and Vladimir Fogel, the pair from The Kiss of Mary Pickford, play the fortune hunters, and Sergei Komarov, who directed that film too, sends them through the Soviet capital as tourists who understand nothing. The heiress is a student at a sports institute with no interest in being rich. The film is fair enough to let the Frenchmen be funny rather than only foolish. Mezhrabpom-Rus, 1928.
