1914 · US
Directed by Mack Sennett, George Nichols
A rich man in top hat and whiskers is caught by his fiancée in a maid's embrace, drinks what he thinks is poison, and dreams of hell. Not the Tramp: Chaplin plays a Keystone swell, broad, a man of gestures rather than feeling, in 1914. Minta Durfee, Arbuckle's wife, is the fiancée. The poison scene is where the later actor is briefly visible.
