The Tramp as a working stiff in a factory that makes movies: he replaces an absent actor, wrecks the set, and tears the star's skirt, with a dice game on the side. The studio in the picture is called Lockstone, which was Chaplin's joke at the expense of the one he had just left. His first film for Essanay, Chicago, 1915, with Ben Turpin.
