Garbo takes the flowers Gilbert has sent and holds them in the hospital bed as if they were the man, and that scene is the performance in miniature. Diana is kept from Neville by his father and marries David instead; on the honeymoon David goes out a hotel window, and Diana lets the world believe the fault was hers. Lewis Stone is the doctor who knows better. Clarence Brown filmed Michael Arlen's The Green Hat with the title, the names and the disease removed to satisfy the censors. MGM, 1928, silent with a synchronised score.
