Rastus Jones is chased by a cop into a Chinese laundry, and the punchline is an opium pipe. Sam Robinson plays him. Ebony was a Black-cast studio with white management, and the comedy trades in the stereotypes the market demanded, so the film is a record of what Black performers were given to do in 1918 and what they did with it anyway.
