Norma Shearer's jewels are stolen and a detective works his way through Hollywood asking about them, so Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, Wallace Beery, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, Edward G. Robinson, Wheeler and Woolsey, Our Gang and a few dozen others each do a minute. No one is trying, and that is the point: a snapshot of the studios' contract lists in the year the talkies settled in, with the stars playing themselves as they wished to be seen. A two-reeler sponsored by Chesterfield cigarettes for the National Variety Artists' tuberculosis sanatorium, shot in bits on several lots. 1931.
