Directed by Enrico Guazzoni
Nero, a Christian girl, a Roman officer, Ursus and the bull, and the burning of Rome, with real lions, a real arena and thousands of extras. Enrico Guazzoni made it for Cines in 1913 at about two hours, and it played legitimate theatres at legitimate prices, which is the hint the American feature film took. Pastrone saw the fire before he made Cabiria, and Griffith before Intolerance.
