Saxophone Suzy

A count's daughter wants the stage, a revue girl wants a finishing-school education, they trade places, and the saxophone goes where the aristocrat used to be. Anny Ondra's gift is physical, a pratfall taken as lightly as a curtsy, and the film is built to let her use it; Karel Lamač, her partner in a run of Czech and German comedies, directed, the year before Hitchcock borrowed her for Blackmail. A sample of the popular Berlin comedy that ran alongside the famous studio pictures and outsold most of them. Hom-Film, 1928; remade with sound in 1932 as Baby.
