The Miller and the Sweep

1897 · 1 min · GB

Directed by George Albert Smith

A miller carrying a sack of flour and a sweep carrying a sack of soot walk into each other in front of a windmill and come apart the opposite colours, and then a crowd arrives from nowhere and chases both of them out of the picture. One shot, one minute, the sails turning behind the whole thing. George Albert Smith made it in Brighton in 1897, and the chase that ends by emptying the frame is already here.
