Abram Room, 1935: a young athlete falls in love with the wife of a famous scientist, and the film was banned for being too elegant, too Nietzschean, too unlike Socialist Realism. A Severe Young Man, from Yuri Olesha. It is the Soviet picture that treated bodies as ideas, and the censors treated the ideas as a problem. Shelved in 1936, and not seen in public for decades.
