Micheaux, 1932: a Secret Service man (Carl Mahon) is sent to a small town to break up a numbers racket and falls for the girl the racket owns. Sound, two-strip cheap, a nightclub that is also a church. The Girl from Chicago is a crime picture on the race-film circuit. Micheaux using pulps the way he used novels, as a structure he can fill with the people Hollywood would not cast.
