A railroad being built through Mexico is under attack by a gang working for a profiteer, and the old co-owner sends for his nephew, great-grandson of the original Zorro, who arrives with golf clubs and a singing voice. Then the mask. The first Zorro serial, twelve chapters, and the first serial William Witney and John English directed together; they made twenty-four more. The modern setting, with planes and radios beside the horse, was Republic's way of getting a costume hero into a contemporary serial, and Yakima Canutt did the stunts and doubled him. John Carroll is Vega. 1937.
