William S. Hart's first feature, 1914, produced by Thomas Ince and directed by Reginald Barker. Hart is Jim Stokes, the Two-Gun Man, who robs a stage, is wounded, and falls for Nell Brent while he heals at her father's ranch. The sheriff is not entirely honest. Working title The Two-Gun Man. Ince took a company of twenty-five into the Grand Canyon for six weeks, north of El Tovar, a hardship the trade papers advertised. Entered on the National Film Registry in 2010. Hart became Two-Gun Bill in the fan magazines.
