William Wyler, Universal, 1929, from Peter B. Kyne's The Three Godfathers, published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1912. Three bank robbers flee into the Mojave and find a dying woman in a wagon who names them godfathers to her newborn. Shot near Mojave in August heat. Released silent and with sound; the AFI notes a silent version at 5,836 feet. The Film Foundation restored it. The third authorized film of the story.
