William S. Hart as Buckskin Hamilton, 1919, directed by Lambert Hillyer from a C. Gardner Sullivan story. A Santa Fe Trail guide in 1850 whose brother has been killed, supposedly by Jane Washburn in self-defense. Hart leads the wagon train and suspects Jane's gambler brother. Joseph August photographed the desert. The Los Angeles Times called it the industry's greatest desert epic that year. Prints survive at the Library of Congress.
