In seventeenth-century France, Gascon swordsman D'Artagnan rides to Paris to join the King's Musketeers and instead befriends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. Together they are drawn into Cardinal Richelieu's intrigue against Queen Anne, racing to recover her diamond brooch from the Duke of Buckingham before a court ball can expose the Queen.
