René Clair, 1925, Paris qui dort. A night watchman on the Eiffel Tower wakes to a city frozen by a scientist's ray: a mid-step policeman, a half-poured drink, a suicide paused on a ledge. He and a few others who were high enough to miss the beam loot shops, then argue; Albert Préjean is among the walkers. Clair shot the tower for real. CNC restorations run it near an hour, science fiction as a privilege of height.
